Tips on Furniture, Posture, Position and
Lighting
The top of the monitor
screen should be 10 degrees (and the centre
of the screen 20 degrees) below the user's
straight-ahead seeing position.
The appropriate distance
from the viewer's eyes to the screen should be
approximately 35 to 50cm.
Reference material
should be placed as close as possible to the
monitor screen.
Adjust monitor screen
brightness and contrast to a comfortable
setting.
Reflected glare on
monitor screens and from overhead lights can be
minimised by anti-reflective coated lenses.
Rest breaks are
important. Glancing into the distance every 15
minutes will ease eye strain.
Have your eyes
thoroughly examined before you begin work
with screen based equipment and then on a regular
basis.
